PFAS-Free PPA Masterbatch for PE Film & Fluoropolymer PPA Replacement | SILIMER 5090

SILIKE SILIMER 5090 is a PFAS-free and fluorine-free polymer processing aid (PPA) masterbatch designed for polyethylene (PE) film extrusion. Based on a PE carrier, it provides a non-fluorinated alternative to conventional fluoropolymer PPAs, helping improve melt flow and extrusion stability while reducing die drool and melt fracture (sharkskin). At higher addition levels, SILIMER 5090 can also reduce film-surface friction and enhance slip performance, making it suitable for PE film and flexible packaging applications requiring both processing improvement and surface performance.

Description

SILIKE SILIMER 5090 is based on organically modified polysiloxane technology with PE as the carrier resin. During PE extrusion, the active component can migrate toward the polymer–metal interface, where the initial lubricating effect of polysiloxane, together with the polarity effect of the modified functional groups, helps reduce interfacial friction and improve melt flow through the processing equipment.

At relatively low addition levels, SILIMER 5090 can effectively improve fluidity and processability, reduce die drool during extrusion, and minimize melt fracture (sharkskin). At higher addition levels, it can additionally contribute to lower film-surface friction and improved slip performance. It is widely used to improve processing lubrication and surface characteristics in PE-compatible extrusion applications.

How to use

Mix SILIMER 5090 with compatible resin and extrude directly after being mixed in proportion.

Dosage

Recommended addition level: 0.5–2 wt% for PPA replacement, processing lubrication, and die-drool reduction; 5–10 wt% when additional reduction in the coefficient of friction is required.

The optimum dosage should be determined according to the resin formulation, processing conditions, and target performance.

Transportation & Storage

This product could be transported as a non-hazardous chemical. It is recommended to be stored in a dry and cool area with a storage temperature below 50° C to avoid agglomeration. The package must be well sealed after each use to prevent the product from being affected by moisture.

Package & Shelf life

The standard packaging is a craft paper bag with PE inner bag with net weight of 25kg. Original characteristics remain intact for 24 months from the production date if kept in recommend storage.
