Silicone Masterbatch (Siloxane Masterbatch) LYPA-208C is a silicone-based processing additive masterbatch containing 50% ultra-high molecular weight siloxane polymer dispersed in a PE carrier. Designed for silane-crosslinkable polyethylene (XLPE) wire and cable compounds, it helps improve extrusion processability and surface quality while reducing premature crosslinking (scorch), screw slippage, and die build-up. Silicone-based additive LYPA-208C helps provide a wider processing window during cable extrusion without adversely affecting the intended final crosslinking performance.

Description

Silicone Masterbatch ( Siloxane Masterbatch ) LYPA-208C is a pelletized formulation with 50% ultra-high molecular weight silicone polymer with a special chemical structure dispersed in PE. It could be used as a particular processing additive in XLPE compounds to improve the processing properties and modify surface quality.

Compared to conventional lower molecular weight Silicone / Siloxane additives, like Silicone oil, silicone fluids, or other types of processing aids, it is expected to give improved benefits, eg,. Less screw slippage, improved mold release, reduced die drool, a lower coefficient of friction, fewer paint and printing problems, and a broader range of performance capabilities. What’s more, it could prevent undesired pre-crosslinking without influencing final cross-linking speed and rate.

Features

In silane-crosslinkable polyethylene (PE) systems, premature crosslinking during processing can reduce melt flow and cause material build-up in screw channels and equipment dead zones. These pre-crosslinked agglomerates may lead to unstable extrusion and surface defects on the finished cable. LYPA-208C acts as an effective processing lubricant, helping improve processability, reduce material build-up and premature crosslinking, and promote a smoother extruded surface.

How to use

Addition levels between 0.2~5.0% is suggested . It can be used in classical melt blending process like Single /Twin screw extruders, injection molding. A physical blend with virgin polymer pellets is recommended . For better result , pre-drying is recommend for 1 hour at 70-75 ℃ .
