Silicone Masterbatch ( Siloxane Masterbatch ) LYSI-404 is a pelletized formulation with 50% ultra high molecular weight siloxane polymer dispersed in High-density polyethylene (HDPE ). It is widely used as an efficient additive in PE compatible resin system to improve the processing properties and modify surface quality.

Compare to conventional lower molecular weight Silicone / Siloxane additives,like Silicone oil, silicone fluids or other type processing additives, SILIKE Silicone Masterbatch LYSI series are expected to give improved benefits, eg,. Less screw slippage , improved mold release, reduce die drool, a permanent low coefficient of friction (COF), fewer paint and printing problems, and a broader range of performance capabilities.

How to use

SILIKE LYSI series silicone masterbatch may be processed in the same way as the resin carrier on which they based. It can be used in classical melt blending process like Single /Twin screw extruder, injection molding. A physical blend with virgin polymer pellets is recommended .

Recommend dosage

When added to polyethylene or similar thermoplastic at 0.2 to 1% , improved processing and flow of the resin is expected, including better mold filling, less extruder torque, internal lubricants, mold release and faster throughput; At a higher addition level , 2~5%, improved surface properties are expected, including lubricity , slip, lower coefficient of friction and greater mar/scratch and abrasion resistance

Polydimethylsiloxane dispersed in HDPE resin. It is widely used as an additive in resin compatible system to improve processing properties and surface quality. With silicone masterbatch LYSI-404, properties like low coefficient of friction (COF), demolding, dispersion are highly improved. Meanwhile, surface become smoother, thereby improving anti-friction properties, scratch and abrasion resistance. When it’s used in inner layer of telecom ducts, it reduces the COF and thus facilitate the blow of optic fiber cables to longer distance.

Processing Conditions
It can be processed on any standard HDPE pipes extruders keeping normal processing temperature at 175℃-220℃.
Recommend dosage: addition level at 0.5-2.0%, can improve the product’s processing, fluidity and mold release.
At a high level:1.0-5.0% can improve the surface properties(smoothness, scratch resistance and abrasion resistance).

Usage Method (Case Study)
Following are the characteristic after adding Silicone Masterbatch
1. Its inner wall Silicon core layer slides with permanent lubricant.
2. Its inner wall Silicon core layer is extruded into the inside of pipe wall by synchronization, distributed uniformly in the whole inner wall, the Silicone core layer has the same physical and mechanical performance as the HDPE no peel, no separation.
3. Its inner Silicone core friction performance is not changed, the cable can be drawn out in the pipe again and again.
4. Its inner wall Silicone core layer is not dissolved in the water. If the ordure comes into pipe, you can wash pipe by water so as to avoid the damage of the rodent.
HDPE Silicon Core pipe is the most advanced telecommunication optical fiber(cable) sheathing
tube(sleeve). It is made from the commonly extruding compound of special HDPE material and Silicone
masterbatch.
This special telecom duct pipe is a co-extruded pipe with a very low coefficient of friction.
The outer layer is 100% HDPE with coloured masterbatch. The inner layer constitutes 99% HDPE and 1% Silicone masterbatch.
